Industry Partners
Client: Loughborough University London
Role: MA Collaborative Projects Module & Collaborative Dissertations
Since 2015, This Great Adventure (originally as City-Insights) has been an Industry Partner with Loughborough University London (LUL) supporting the exciting MA Collaborative Projects and Collaborative Dissertations.
Each year, we develop collaborative project briefs that blend culture, technology, immersive storytelling and community engagement for MA students from across the different schools to respond to.
These projects are different each year, reflecting that changing nature of what we’re working on / planning / thinking about at TGA, designed to give students valuable experience in creative research, co-creation, audience engagement, concept development, and presenting their ideas.
Together with fantastic academic support from LUL, we ask students to explore how digital innovation can connect people, places, and stories in new and meaningful ways, while sharing insights into working with cultural organisations, creative studios, new media, and tech platforms like Ci and OPUS: The Next Stage.
Different Ways of Seeing - acculturation walking tour around Hackney with aladin aladin and the 2016 cohort of students, inspired by the work of John Berger.
Working with researchers and students is vital to our practice — it demands that we organise and reflect on our work and practices in order to communicate and explain it to new people, as well as bringing fresh thinking, new ideas, and energy to our projects.
The briefs we create can explore diverse themes ranging from artistic practice and the meaning of ‘home’, to community engagement/building through storytelling, digital democracy, student-facing community platforms, and the heritage of traditional crafts.
Each year’s work culminates in the Collaborative Projects Show, where students present, share, and reflect on their projects with industry partners, offering valuable opportunities for networking, learning, and celebration.
