“Bring Our Dancers To Life”

Birmingham Royal Ballet

OPUS x Birmingham Royal Ballet and CCIXR: Bringing Ballet into a New Dimension

For the first time, TGA is thrilled to partner with Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB) and CCIXR Portsmouth University to bring world-class ballet into a new realm.

In this groundbreaking collaboration, traditional performing arts meet cutting-edge technology, allowing audiences to experience iconic moments from beloved performances in a whole new way.

This project marks several exciting “firsts”—it’s the first time TGA, BRB and CCXIR have teamed up, the first time BRB has embraced volumetric capture (VolCap), and the first time CCIXR has captured ballet’s elegance and dynamism in 3D.

Together, we’re pushing the limits of the technolohies and bringing BRB’s acclaimed dancers to life in full 3D, giving audiences an immersive, up-close experience that they can collect and replay in anwhere, anytime.

This is The Next Stage.

Audiences will soon have the chance to see some of ballet’s most iconic scenes like never before. Using the OPUS app, BRB’s dancers will appear in real-world locations, allowing audiences and fans to interact with their favorite performances and bring ballet directly into their lives.

It’s traditional ballet meets immersive technology, celebrating both artistry and innovation to expand how and where audiences connect with the art they love.

Ongoing research and development will reach beyond traditional audiences to explore how these new and emerging technologies can be used to engage students and young people with the power of ballet, and get people moving.

This groundbreaking collaboration with BRB and CCIXR offers a glimpse into the future of the performing arts, where dancers and audiences meet in the shared space of augmented reality.

OPUS is proud to lead the way, making world-class ballet accessible to all through the power of digital technology.

Anyone. Anywhere. Anytime.
